Remind Me

When the currents draw
Warm autumn winds their way
To scatter summer’s leaves
But beg that summer stay,

When simple steps of orphans
Whose lively hearts are cold,
Readily turn grown-up,
To sever from their mold.

When earth itself is trembling
From the sound of soldiers feet
And many more are coming
Mistakes again repeat.

Remind me who I am,
Who this stranger in me was
Remind me of a time
When it was “just because.”
